MedTech: Surgical Implants and Instruments

The Swiss m4m Center is a technology company supporting the engineering, prototyping, and manufacturing of medical implants through additive manufacturing (AM) technologies.

The focus lies on the metal and polymer additive manufacturing of medical devices from early-stage design and engineering to certified serial production.

Expertise spans a broad range of applications, including hip cups, spinal cages, trauma plates, and implants tailored to specific clinical indications in areas such as cardiology and ophthalmology.

With ISO 13485-compliant infrastructure, the Swiss m4m Center ensures high-quality, traceable, and patient-centric solutions throughout the entire lifecycle of a medical device.

Collaborating with us enables you a faster development cycles, a regulatory-compliant production and access to in-depth expertise in the design and manufacture of complex implants.

Integrated services from design to certified production contribute to reduced development risks and scalable, high-quality manufacturing outcomes.

Surgical Instruments

The Swiss m4m Center is your partner for the development and manufacturing of surgical instruments made from metallic and polymeric materials. Our ISO 13485-certified infrastructure combines additive manufacturing, CNC milling, and assembly to produce precise, high-quality medical products for a wide range of surgical procedures in the healthcare field.

Our medical instruments are manufactured from stainless steel (17-4 PH) and, when required, from polymer materials for orthopedic or surgical applications. This approach ensures durable, biocompatible instruments that are ready for immediate use in surgery. Both single-use and reusable instruments can be efficiently produced to meet specific needs.

Through controlled post-processing, we guarantee features such as sharp cutting edges for soft tissue treatment and high corrosion resistance through specialized surface treatments.

Our rapid prototyping service enables production lead times that are up to 75% shorter than those of conventional milling methods. This accelerates design iterations and significantly reduces time-to-market. Our hybrid manufacturing approach combines the advantages of 3D printing, CNC machining, and assembly to produce complex surgical instruments with precision and efficiency.

We manufacture a wide range of instruments: individually or as sets:

The Swiss m4m Center supports manufacturers and medical technology companies in developing:

  • Instrument sets for orthopedics, spine surgery, general surgery, dermatology, gynecology, and dentistry

  • Surgical scissors, needle holders, scalpels, forceps, clamps, curettes, retractors, and spreaders

  • Anatomical and surgical tweezers

  • Needle holders in various configurations

  • Single-use and reusable instruments

Instruments can be supplied individually, packaged, and sterilized, ready for immediate use by the surgeon, and tailored to meet the requirements of modern patient care and surgical procedures.

Whether single-use or reusable, the Swiss m4m Center offers a broad selection of precision surgical instruments produced through additive manufacturing. Our solutions are designed to maximize efficiency, helping reduce both time and cost in medical treatment.
